Directions

Campus map>> (type MEK in the search).

The physical address is 1495 East 100 South, SLC, UT 84112.  The Rio Tinto Kennecott Mechanical Engineering Building (MEK) is on the corner of 100 South and North Campus Drive on the Northwest edge of campus. Parking is permit-only and parking permits can be purchased for $10 here and are good for any ‘A’ lot on campus (including the lot right outside our building entrance).  You will see a pedestrian bridge going over the road straight into our building so you know you are going the right direction.  If taking public transportation, multiple bus routes have a stop in front of our building (2, 9, 17/21, 313, 354) or you can take a bus or campus shuttle (green or red shuttle from in front of the new law school building; free, just hop on!) from Stadium on the Red Line of Trax. Exit right where 100 south sharply turns into North Campus Drive and cross the street.  If being dropped off by a friend or relative, they can temporarily park in the parking lot on the North side of our building.

There is a door to the stairs to the right as soon as you enter the building (before going through the second door) and you will need to go downstairs to the basement level, past the computer lab to MEK 0560 conference room.

Engineering Day is a half-day event open to high school students, undecided majors, parents, transfer students, and anyone interested in engineering at the U. This event is FREE and is designed to introduce participants to a variety of engineering disciplines.

Participants will have the opportunity to tour our engineering facilities, find out what research is happening in the College, and attend exciting engineering presentations/demonstrations. Participants are required to register for sessions online. Lab tour space is limited thus presentations and demonstrations will be going on concurrently.

Usually conducted in person, Engineering Day 2020 will be virtual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
