Deliverables and Schedule memo (Due Monday 9/24/07 in class)
- email to your advisor, Tina, and Class TA.
- turn in a signed hardcopy in class on Monday.
You should consider having 2 people work on this and list their names. It will be worth the equivalent of writing a weekly memo for 2 people in your group.
The main point of this memo is to have each team select semester deliverables for this semester and next semester that they will be held accountable to. Next semester’s deliverables may be adjusted slightly at the beginning of ME 4010 if necessary, but should be done in coordination with your advisor and the course instructor. You will also provide a schedule that will permit your team to meet these deliverables. Please explain why you think your schedule will allow you to meet these deliverables (1 or 2 short paragraphs will suffice). Please attach your overall project Gantt chart and if desired a more detailed Gantt chart relating to your primary deliverables.
You should propose deliverables that will:
- put you ahead of schedule to complete your project by April 15, 2007.
- Challenge your team
- In the case where you perhaps propose many items and some may not be completed, please identify the highest priority items. Justify why it wouldn’t be critical to complete these items.
- Have an understanding with your advisor which item(s) you will drop if time is short.
- Permit your team to complete key initial development (before your project is complete).
The deliverables you describe should have tangible evidence associated with them.
Examples include:
- a prototype
- design selection (sketches/CAD images and a selection/decision matrix will provide suitable tangible evidence)
You should follow the same type of formatting and structure as a general memo.
