Final Presentation on Thursday December 6, 9AM-3:45PM
(in Warnock Building, Eccels Boardroom near the Dean’s office)
- Presentations should be 8–10 minutes long with up to 5 min. for Q&A (you will get a 2 minute warning at 8 minutes and be asked to stop at 10 minutes).
- Presentations will be video taped (until James needs to go).
- Presentations should provide an overview of the project, your team’s approach and progress, key steps to complete your project and an accounting of your project’s budget and budgetary needs (for the judges to determine funding needs).
- Presentation Schedule (Rv. 1, 11/27)
The presentations should be fairly high level similar to an executive summary. Showing sketches, models, or prototypes of your design(s) will provide the audience with an idea of your team’s approach. Do not include a Gantt chart, however, a list of major milestones will be informative to the audience to help them gauge your current progress.
This year we will be having industry judges from CEntry and perhaps other local companies judge your projects, with the possibility of cash prizes that will be put in an ME account to be used towards your project.
To be compelling project to these judges, they will want to know:
- big picture of your project
- why it’s an important project
- a bit about your approach(es) ( a little brainstorming sketches and benchmarking might be nice here)
- a bit about your progress (some solid modeling renderings, important analyses, testing, and your CFP might be good here)
- your plans to finish up (to let them know that you are on track to succeed)
- this should include some bullet point milestones (no Gantt charts)
- should include your budget summary (including required fund-raising)
- I know from past years that good projects with budget short-falls have been able to get money as long as they present this information to the CEntry judges
(in other words, you will be able to use much of what you presented for your CFP presentation, though you will want to make sure that you tell a complete story)
The presentation schedule will also be posted outside of Dr. P’s office.
