I have built 4 telescopes in the past but none of them have been both portable and powerful. They have all been the typical cardboard tube and plywood affairs that are typical of ammeter telescope builders. This project gives me the chance to actually engineer a real scope.
The inspiration for the telescope project came when I was on a camping trip looked up at the stars, and wished I could have brought a telescope with me.
