Lenzi's Bionic Prosthetics Featured in PC Magazine

Last year at this time assistant professor Tommaso Lenzi received a $972K Department of Defense grant entitled, “Motorized Hip Orthoses to Improve the Gait Ability of Transfemoral Amputees.” Today his research and his advanced prosthetic with built-in AI and state-of-the-art engineering, takes front stage in the October 4, 2018 issue of the PC magazine in a story entitled, “How Advanced Prosthetics Turned This Man Into an ‘Emerging Cyborg.‘

Lenzi said, “Our working hypothesis is that a motorized hip orthosis will improve kinematic and kinetic gait symmetry and reduce metabolic energy consumption in transfemoral amputee subjects, when compared to walking without a hip orthosis.”
