Mechanical Engineering assistant professor Brittany Coats received a one-year grant from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia at $3,318, for her research entitled Pediatric Brain Injury Assessment.
Serving as co-investigator on the project, Coats will advise and assist in the development of the infant finite element model. She has over 12 years of experience in developing finite element models for investigation of pediatric head trauma, and will provide particular insight into the modeling parameters of the brain-skull interface. She will interact with the PI (Matt Maltese from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) and/or his graduate students via phone monthly or as needed.
Dr. Coats is the director of the Developmental Head Injury Biomechanics Lab.
