In the summer, thousands of hiking and biking trails are easily accessible along the Wasatch Front and five of the nation’s most beautiful national parks are located across the state. The University of Utah is located in one of the most diverse and exciting areas in the world. From world-class skiing in the Wasatch Mountains, to the beautiful sandstone deserts of southern Utah, even long-time residents can’t get enough of their home state!

Salt Lake boasts abundant fine dinig and scores of cultural events including:

  • The Utah Symphony;
  • The Utah Opera;
  • Ballet West;
  • Sundance Film Festival;
  • Many museums and galleries.


Pac-12 LogoThe U of U’s induction into the PAC 12 strengthened the already active sporting community on campus. The Mighty Utah Student Section, or MUSS, is the student fan club for university athletics. It is also the most popular student section in the West. In addition to campus athletics, Salt Lake hosts an array of sporting events such as hockey, soccer, baseball, and professional basketball games.
