About Mr. Rodgers
Steve Rodgers has built a career working to create and identify emergent, differentiating and disruptive technologies. As an industry specialist in composites and engineered materials, he serves as Subject Matter Expert on three economic cluster groups for the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development. In January of 2012, Governor Gary R. Herbert and State Science Advisor Dr. Tami Goetz, along with the State Advisory Council on Science and Technology, awarded Steve the Governor’s Medal for Science and Tech- ology for his work in economic development. He is currently contracted by the State of Utah to manage the Utah Cluster Acceleration Partnership for Aerospace and Defense.
Mr. Rodgers is an International Past President and Trustee on the Board of Directors of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE). His six years on the International Executive Cabinet has given him a contact base throughout the materials science communities that is both broad and deep with a healthy cross section of academia, industry and government in a number of diverse technical disciplines. He has a regular column called “Perspectives” in The SAMPE Journal in which he explores the land- scape of engineered materials and their impact on society, technology and economics.
As a high-level strategic thinker Mr. Rodgers is recognized as bringing a unique perspective to seemingly dispa- rate data, analyzing and communicating that perspective in ways that make it accessible, applicable and enabling. In the end it is the simple, elegant solution that will predominate and a proper understanding of the interplay of data is vital to achieving that solution.
Mr. Rodgers is the former Director of Strategic Business Development / Director of R&D at ITT Integrated Struc- tures. Before that he was the Director of Research and Development / Engineering Manager at EDO Fiber Science.
